A big week for LMH

As Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) begins its third year, it is symbolic that the week ahead also sees the organisation involved in three major award ceremonies.

LMH's position in the housing industry is now well established after enjoying a number of successes since it was formed in April 2008.

The award ceremonies start tomorrow evening when LMH will learn if it has been successful in the Housing Excellence awards in Manchester after being shortlisted in two categories.

LMH's Supported Housing Team is in the running for the Tenant Care Programme of the Year award, while LMH's work with asset and facilities management services specialist, the Kinetics Group, is also among the final few entries being considered.

On Thursday, tenants, staff and partners will take over St Georges Hall for the Focus Awards that recognise the excellent efforts and service given to improve LMH over the last year and to make its vision a reality.

The 12 award categories are; Neighbour of the Year, Tenant Group of the Year, the Unity Award for an individual, the Unity Award for a group or organisation, the Improvement Award for an individual, the LMH Improvement Award for a group or project, the LMH Partnership Award, the Best Value Award for an individual, the Best Value Award for a group or project, Staff Member of the Year, Team Leader of the Year, and Team of the Year.

The busy week is brought to a close on Friday with the Housing Heroes awards at London's Hilton Hotel.

LMH is one of six left in the running for the Frontline Housing Team of the Year award - organised by Inside Housing magazine and the Chartered Institute of Housing - for its Intensive Community Payback scheme.

The project has been successfully delivered by LMH in partnership with a variety of organisations including Liverpool's innovative Community Justice Centre, the Probation Service, Merseyside Police and the Council's North Neighbourhood Management Service.

The work has resulted in a 50 per cent reduction in the number of reports of anti-social behaviour in North Liverpool compared to the three months before, and tenants saying they feel safer in their homes and now have a renewed sense of community spirit.

Chief Executive at LMH, Steve Coffey, said: "This week is symbolic of everything that we have achieved and are trying to achieve as we progress as an organisation – a real focus around improving our tenants' lives.

"It also shows how committed we are to continuing to improve in all our areas so we make services even better for tenants whether that be the way we communicate with them, the service we provide or our work to make their communities safer places to live.

"Having our work recognised through awards judged by industry experts is very rewarding in that it shows we are doing the right thing and it is good recognition for our staff and partners who work so hard to make improvements.

"We all recognise that none of this would be possible without the efforts and commitment of our tenants and they will be at each event when we reflect on some great achievements. We also know that we still have a long way to go before we can say we have fulfilled our mission to deliver Pride in Our Home and Proud of Our Neighbourhoods."
