91% of MHA care home residents would recommend their home

A remarkable 91% of residents of MHA care homes and their relatives would recommend their home to others, a new survey has shown.
The annual Resident Satisfaction Survey for MHA, which provides accommodation, care and support services for 15,000 older people nationwide, was undertaken by an independent company. Overall satisfaction was rated highly at 88%, maintaining levels for the previous two years. In addition, 91% of respondents said they would recommend their home to others, up from 89% in 2010.
'Being treated with dignity and respect at all times' scored 94%, closely followed by 'general condition and maintenance of your home' and 'pleasant communal areas', which both scored 93%. All these scores are maintained at 2010 levels, showing ongoing high levels of satisfaction amongst those living in MHA care homes.
Even the lowest scoring area, 'making daily routines stimulating and fun' came in at 78%. MHA Managers will receive their individual results in detail and develop action plans in consultation with residents, relatives and staff members, in order to continue improving their performances.
Respondents to the survey highlighted aspects of care such as Music Therapy, which provides a creative outlet for people with dementia and is known to have positive effects on their well-being. Staff members were described as "friendly and polite", "kind and caring", "lovely" and "always very helpful". One relative wrote, "I and the rest of my family are very grateful to all concerned with the help given to my Dad. We have noticed a big improvement with him and also my mother." |
