Watford Community Housing Trust was created in partnership with our tenants and leaseholders, to take over the ownership and management of more than 4,700 homes and local neighbourhoods from Watford Borough Council in September 2007.
Based in Watford, the Trust has been established as a new not-for-profit registered social landlord with charitable status. In accordance with tenants’ wishes the Trust is founded on the principles of the ‘Community Gateway Model’, placing tenant and community empowerment at the centre of its business activities.
A Community Gateway is a new model of housing association that places the needs and aspirations of tenants and local communities at the heart of the organisation in ways that have not been possible before.
The Trust legally belongs to our tenant and leaseholder membership, who are able to shape the way we do things and influence key decisions about the future of their homes and local neightbourhoods. Associate membership is open to everyone living in the areas where Trust owns homes, emphasising our commitment to working with the local communities we serve. |
