Formed in 1983 following a voluntary transfer of stock from Knowsley Borough Council. We provide general family homes, bungalows and sheltered flats for the elderly, and more recently, specialised accommodation for people with disabilities and special needs.
Villages Housing provides homes for more than 2,800 tenants but we do far more than simply put roofs over heads. We’ve developed purpose built bungalows for disabled tenants and created Portland House, a pioneering scheme for supporting people with dementia. In 2004 the scheme won a Local Government award for housing achievement and has been cited by the Department of Health as an example of good practice – practice which we now hope to develop with a further Portland House-style scheme.
In Fitton Hill we’ve made improvements to the homes of 136 elderly tenants our priority after taking over the estate. The £2 million project was designed on a rolling programme to cut disruption to tenants and brought the bungalows into the 21st century by giving them new kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems and electrics. Many homes also benefited from special adaptations designed to meet specific needs of individual tenants. Re-housing and demolition are also part of our long-term strategy to make Fitton Hill a place where people choose to live. |
