Venture was formed in the early 1970s by a group of Liverpool professionals working on a voluntary basis. The first development of two bedroom flats was completed in 1974 and, in 1976, the Association appointed its first full-time member of staff. Today, the Association owns and manages 1250 homes in Liverpool and the Wirral and has a future development programme for the provision of a further 100 dwellings over the next three years. Venture now employs 36 members of staff but the organisation is still controlled by a voluntary Board of Management who do not receive payment for their services.
In October 2006 we moved into our new Office accommodation at Venture House, Boaler Street, L6, providing us with space to grow in the future. We try hard to take a completely tenant focused approach to the way the company is run and aim to respond to residents’ needs efficiently and effectively. As well as the hundreds of properties we have available across the city, we also have an active development programme providing new and refurbished homes in Liverpool and the Wirral. Committed to providing the highest standard of housing service to those in need.
Venture Housing is a Registered Social Landlord and provides rented accommodation in Liverpool and the Wirral. The Association provides a comprehensive housing management and maintenance service and also has an ongoing development programme of new housing property. It is a non-profit making social enterprise whose core activity is to provide housing to those in most need. Funding for Venture’s activities is provided through government grants, private borrowing and rental income from its properties. As a social landlord, Venture is subject to regulation by a government agency, the Housing Corporation and the periodic inspection of its services by the Audit Commission.
As well as providing housing, Venture works with other agencies and regeneration partners to deliver complementary services in the areas in which it works. Recently, the Association has been running a Community Caretaker service in the Liverpool 6 area and providing welfare advice and ‘clean up’ services in conjunction with Liverpool City Council and the Green Apprentices. |
