Sherburn House Charity is located just 2 miles south-east of Durham City in the north-east of England. Also known as Christ's Hospital in Sherburn and simply as Sherburn Hospital, the charity exists to provide residential care and sheltered housing to elderly residents and former residents of the north-east of England.
Another very important function of the charity is to relieve need, hardship and distress in the north-east, by providing grants, both to individuals and to other organisations who work with disadvantaged groups.
Sherburn House Charity is able to accommodate 24 elderly persons in sheltered housing. An attractive row of cottages, named Thornley House, houses half of this number, with the remainder located in a number of smaller units. |
