Red Devon Housing Ltd, was founded in 1959 by a group of volunteers who were interested in providing non profit making housing for the elderly. They purchased Brook House in Dawlish and converted the house in 1961. Following the building of an extension some 15 years later there is now a total of 20 rooms all having their own kitchenette together with a shower room and WC There is also a bathroom for the disabled.
In 1984 on the other side of the Dawlish Brook which runs through the grounds, Overbrook was constructed with 16 self contained units for those who do not require all the facilities of Brook House and each unit has its own shower room, WC and kitchen. Red Devon Housing is a social landlord registered with the Housing Corporation under the Housing Act 1996 and is subject to the Housing Corporation’s Performance Standards.
