Providing affordable housing -
This year, M&D started work on the first of new housing developments in Partington. The multi-million pound investment project saw a former, derelict public house and surrounding land redeveloped to provide seven new two-bedroom bungalows to rent for people over 55. This is just the first of a number of new projects to take place in Partington.
Residents taking the lead in their neighbourhoods -
In Partington, residents wanted to transform some wasteland into a pleasant wildlife area for local people to enjoy. Partington worked very closely with a local women’s group, POWER, to win funding of £95,000 from the European Regional Development Fund. The whole community was then invited to take part in planning and designing the Nature Trail – a new and accessible public open space, opened in May 2008. |
