Nottingham City Homes is the Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) that manages Nottingham City Council’s rented and leasehold homes. It became operational on 1st April 2005 and transferred over 1400 staff from Nottingham City Council to do this.
We are responsible for the day to day management of around 29,000 homes and looks after services such as rent collection and the management of tenancies. We are also responsible for looking after around 1,000 leasehold properties.
We are a non-profit making organisation run by a Board of non-executive directors made up of councilors, tenants, leaseholders and independent members. More about the Boards can be found at the top of this page. All our properties are still wholly owned by Nottingham City Council.
In June 2004, the City Council balloted its tenants and leaseholders over the future of their homes. The reason for this is that the Government has introduced the Decent Homes Standard which is a minimum standard of quality that all social housing providers must meet by 2010. Voting ‘yes’ has brought us the potential to update properties over the next few years to this standard.
We had to meet various standards to have the opportunity of forming Nottingham City Homes and now we will have the chance to bring all our properties up to this Standard. This will help us to improve housing for all our tenants and leaseholders as the Government is releasing funds to us to carry out work to all properties that need it. |
