Newark Emmaus Trust is an independent, local, voluntary organisation, set up in 1993 in response to concerns felt by the Newark Christian Council, which seeks to alleviate some of the problems of single, homeless people aged 16-25 years. It is our aim not simply to provide accommodation but to give support, care and training for the clients with a view to their moving to permanent situations in which they can live independently.
The Trust has its own accommodation, located in the Town of Newark-on-Trent. It has the support of Newark & Sherwood District Council. The Trust has been supported generously by charitable organisations and by Nottinghamshire County Council. It is managed by a voluntary Management Committee and is both a registered charity and a private limited company. The day-to-day business of the Trust is managed by a Project Manager and there is good office accommodation. The Trust is actively co-operating with a large number of agencies and organisations in Newark. The Trust is fully committed to the principles of Equal Opportunities for all people in the organisation. |
