New Charter Housing Trust Group exists to build and support communities in the provision of safe, comfortable, secure and affordable homes through partnership with customers and others.
The Group comprises a parent company, New Charter Housing Trust Limited; three stock owning landlords New Charter Homes, Gedling Homes and Aksa Housing Association; and another company, New Charter Building Company Limited.
New Charter formed in 1999 as the new landlords to own and manage properties transferred from Tameside Council. Until September 2000, it was Britain's biggest Large Scale Voluntary Transfer (LSVT). In November 2005, the Group expanded by incorporating Aksa Housing Association, based in Oldham. Aksa is a BME association with homes in Bury and Manchester as well as Oldham and Tameside. In November 2008 the Group added 3359 homes in Gedling in Nottinghamshire.
With a turnover of £59 million a year and a workforce of around 850, New Charter is one of the North West's largest Registered Social Landlords, and is regulated by the Tenant Services Authority, a Government watchdog.
New Charter has seen its tenant satisfaction soar to 92% (February 2008), placing it at the top of the English league table of large landlords. It is also the first RSL to sponsor an Academy, a new school in North Ashton.
We aim to create Great Homes, Great Neighbourhoods, Great People. |
