Hythe Rotary Housing Association was founded in 1971 as a social landlord offering sheltered accommodation for older people. Today, the association has 101 flats at two sites, Muir House in Dibden Purlieu and Priest Croft in Blackfield. These flats allow complete independence and privacy, whilst offering the opportunity of social contact within the community facilities at each development. The accommodation is mainly one-bedroom flats, with a few bedsits. Each site has well cared for gardens, communal areas such as a lounge, and a laundry room.
Both Muir House and Priest Croft have a resident Sheltered Housing Manager, supported by a Community Care Line providing 24-hour emergency cover. The residents, who are all aged 60+, enjoy a number of social events, some organised by the Sheltered Housing Manager, but mostly organised by the residents themselves.
Originally managed by Hythe & District Rotary Club, the Housing Association has for many years now been run by a governing Board, with the day-to-day activities and responsibilities carried out by a professional Chief Executive and staff. As part of a move to better reflect the way the Housing Association is run and the facilities it offers, it has been decided to change the name to MuirCroft Housing Association Ltd. |
