Moorlands Housing is a Registered Social Landlord based in Leek, Staffordshire. We own and manage around 3000 properties in and around the three Moorlands towns of Leek, Cheadle and Biddulph and the surrounding villages.
Alongside our core business of general needs social housing, we carry out property repairs and improvements. We offer supported housing to over 55's and those vulnerable and our support services cater for both our customers and the private sector.
Moorlands Housing was formed on February 26th 2001 through the transfer of 3,044 properties from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. The tenants of the properties voted for the transfer, based on the promises made to them, which included:-
* Significant modernisation and improvements to their homes.
* A guarantee that rents would increase no more than 1% above inflation during the first five years.
* They would preserve their basic rights as tenants, including the right to buy.
* Over the years since transfer we have exceeded our promises and made significant progress in improving conditions for our customers in their homes and their communities. |
