The Society was set up to receive the transfer of South Gloucestershire Council's housing stock of almost 8000 homes, which it did on 12th February 2007.
The purpose of the transfer was to improve services and to increase the amount of investment in tenants' homes so that they will meet and exceed the Government's Decent Homes Standard.
The Society is a not-for-profit organisation run by a Board of Management consisting of 15 members; five of whom are tenants, five are councillors, and five are independent members of the community with relevant skills. In addition a 16th member is currently co-opted to the Board due to her specialist knowledge and skills.
