In 2003, the government told all Councils they had to plan to make sure all homes met the 'decent homes standard' by 2010. When Sedgemoor District looked at this, it was realised that it would cost in the region of £47.7 million to do this. SDC could not afford this from the rent monies coming in so alternative ways were considered on how to manage and maintain the housing service.
After consulting with tenants, it was decided to create an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) called Homes in Sedgemoor.
1st April 2007 saw the launch of the new housing management organisation, Homes in Sedgemoor. |
