Harrow Churches Housing Association (HCHA) was formed in 1967 when the Churches of Harrow combined their efforts to respond to the housing needs of older people in the borough.
Since then, the Association has continued on its chosen path of serving the needs of people in Harrow and has grown steadily in doing so. This growth has accelerated since the introduction of housing plus support provision for the borough’s young, single homeless population.
Sheltered Housing provided by HCHA is specially designed housing for people aged 60 years and over, and is generally arranged in small, low-rise blocks of flats. It offers older people the opportunity to live in a community of people from a similar age group, where their independence can be maintained or improved.
Harrow, like all London boroughs, has within it a large number of vulnerable young people who have no permanent place to live. We are here to make a difference to the lives of these young people. HCHA has accommodation available for 31 young people across nine properties whose support needs fall within the low to medium category. These young people require some support in order to complete their transition to independent living. The schemes, therefore, are designed with this in mind. |
