Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association provides and manages an imaginative range of specialist housing for older and frail older people, as well as for families.
Hanover currently manages 4,715 houses throughout Scotland, offering residents the choice of rented, shared ownership, shared equity and fully owned housing. The range of housing choices is also designed to meet the differing support needs of older people. For instance, Hanover Sheltered Housing developments offer residents a day time Sheltered Housing Manager, additional security features and an emergency alarm system, whilst Very Sheltered Housing caters for the frailer, older residents through the provision of meals, additional communal areas and 24 hour staffing. For more active older people, Hanover has developed Amenity Housing which provides residents with the security of the emergency alarm system but without a resident Sheltered Housing Manager.
Whilst Hanover is primarily a specialist in housing for older people, the organisation also has a number of developments providing both Amenity housing for active older people and housing for families, often designed around a cul-de-sac or courtyards to provide a safer environment for children and pets.
All developments aim to meet the individual housing and support needs of older people in a sensitive and dignified way, ensuring they are able to retain their independence, live within a local community, and enjoy as much privacy or company as they desire.
In addition to managing its range of housing developments, Hanover also owns and operates the "Careline" emergency alarm service, both for its own developments, for other housing associations, associated organisations and for individuals living in the wider community.
Hanover in Scotland was formed as an independent organisation Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association in 1979, 16 years after Hanover Housing Association was established in Egham, Surrey.
Hanover is a non-profit making organisation, controlled by a Committee of Management whose members serve without remuneration. It is a registered charity under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 and is registered as a housing association with Scottish Homes. |
