Hamwic Housing Co-operative is known as a Fully Mutual Housing Co-operative using short-life and permanent housing to provide homes to single people with no dependents in housing need.
"Fully Mutual" means that members have to be housed within the co-op or are intending to be. It also means that only members are allowed to live in the Co-operative's properties.
When it was formed in 1983 Hamwic managed two short-life houses in Portswood, Southampton. Today the Co-operative owns two blocks of flats, a converted lodge, a converted town house and three terraced houses. As well as some short-life properties that we rent. |
