Sunderland Housing Group was formed in 2001 with the transfer of 36,356 properties from Sunderland City Council following a 73% ballot turnout with 88% approval from our customers. This continues to be the largest stock transfer to date in England with the most positive tenant endorsement of any Metropolitan Urban area.
We consist of 5 stock owning local housing companies who own the housing stock in their local areas. Each of these companies is responsible for the landlord function, liaison and support to customers and local budgets and business plans. Local accountability is provided by the Company’s Director to its Local Board made up of one third of members elected from local tenants, one third drawn from local councillors and one third of independents. |
