The Gateshead Housing Company manages over 23,500 local homes, and is working to improve council housing in Gateshead.
It was set up as an 'Arms-Length Management Organisation' (ALMO), which means that it fully owned by Gateshead Council, but operates independently. Our mission is to provide excellent services to all of our customers and work in partnership with Gateshead Council and tenants to deliver homes and housing services that meet the aspirations of the people of Gateshead.
The company has almost 300 employees, most of whom are based at local offices across Gateshead. The company has a Board of Directors, made up of five local tenants, five local councillors and five independent members.
The Board meets every month to make decisions about the way that the company will make the major improvements to housing services in the borough. Tenants and the media are also encouraged to come to the publicly held meetings. Meeting agendas are published in local offices and on-line at www.gateshead.gov.uk/councilpapers
Two 'Area Boards' will also look at local priorities across the borough. A senior management team, who have a vast amount of housing and local authority experience, support the work of the boards. |
