 General Information / Background
Futures Housing Group (FHG) was registered with the Corporation in October 2007 as the non stockholding parent association of two subsidiaries: Amber Valley Housing Limited (AVHL); and Daventry and District Housing Limited (DDH). FHG is a non charitable limited company and provides central services to the two subsidiary associations.

• AVHL was established following a stock transfer from Amber Valley Borough Council, Derbyshire in February 2003. It is a registered limited company and converted to charitable status during 2004. The association owns approximately 5,350 properties in the Alfreton, Ripley, Heanor, Belper and rural areas of Derbyshire, including 2,200 sheltered homes for older people. It also owns a small number of shared ownership properties and manages a further 120 homes for other organisations. These areas of Derbyshire have a black and minority ethnic (BME) population of less than one percent. Demand for the association's homes is relatively buoyant and there is a low level of voids.

• DDH registered with the Corporation in October 2007 to take the transfer of 3,100 homes from Daventry District Council. It is a charitable limited company. The association owns 2,900 general needs family homes, 200 sheltered homes for older people and a small number of leasehold properties. DDH is the predominant social housing landlord in the district owning 69% of the social housing in the area. Recent housing market studies, needs estimates and waiting list data indicate that local demand for social housing is high. The local BME population is 2% with the largest BME community of 0.5% being Indian.
