 General Information / Background
Equity Housing Group is a non-profit-making organisation which provides a range of housing for those who cannot afford, or do not wish, to buy. The Group's purpose is to work in partnership, to give choice and quality in the development and management of homes and communities for those in need of housing.

Equity Housing Group is the parent housing association for Equity Housing Association and Provincial Housing Association. Equity Housing Group formerly known as North Cheshire Housing Group was established in 1963, Equity Housing Association and Provincial Housing Association were formed in 1980. All three associations are not for profit organisations and do not undertake any other activities other than the provision and management of housing. Equity Housing Group and Equity Housing Association are both registered with the Housing Corporation a government organisation which both funds and regulates registered housing associations.

The Group manages in excess of 4,300 properties over a wide geographical area. The bulk of the properties are purpose built houses and flats. Approximately 30% of the stock has been sold on a shared ownership basis. The Group provides housing for a wide range of customers and in some schemes specialist support is available through partner organisations.

Equity Group is committed to ensure quality housing that people want to live in, to improve communities by making them safe and enjoyable and to ensure that excellent service is provided to the customers.

Financially the Group is in a strong position with over £21.75m of reserves. Excluding sales the Group turnover is £12m. Loans currently amount to £31m, the Group has further borrowing capacity of over £30m. The Group has committed itself to spending £9m over the next five years in order to comply with the governments Decent Homes requirement.
