Earle's Retreat, in Trelawney Road, is an almshouse charity. It was founded in 1869 by George Earle, of Philadelphia USA and a native of Falmouth, as "a lasting benefit to the aged and deserving inhabitants" of Falmouth.
It is administered by a body of trustees under a scheme made in 1958 by the Charity Commissioners. The accommodation is 20 self-contained flats, each containing a living room with cooking facilities, a bedroom, bathroom and toilet, together with full central heating. A warden superintends the operation of the Retreat. |
