Following an extensive option appraisal process, the tenants of Derwentside District Council voted in favour of transferring the housing stock to a new registered social landlord (RSL), Derwentside Homes Ltd. Derwentside Homes was established in December 2006 and owns and manages around 7,000 properties throughout the district of Derwentside.
Derwentside District Council owned the housing stock until 4th December 2006. In October 2005, 78% of tenants voted in favour of stock transfer and set in motion a process. Transfer took place on 4th December 2006.
The Association is locally owned and controlled, with a management board of five Council nominees, five elected tenants and five independents appointed by the Board. It is managed professionally by a Chief Executive, Directors and people with a range of professional skills and experience. We are based in the North West of County Durham. Most people live in and around the main towns of Consett and Stanley. |
