On Monday, November 5, Daventry & District Housing took ownership of around 3,100 former Daventry District Council homes and immediately started work on its major five-year improvement programme.
The move comes after tenants voted in favour of transferring their homes to a new not-for-profit landlord at the end of 2006.
Hayley Davies, executive director at Daventry & District Housing, said: “We are delighted to have been able to start work immediately on the improvements tenants voted for.
“The launch of Daventry & District Housing brings a fresh approach to managing homes. In the run-up to transfer we have been working closely with residents to ensure that we can provide the services they need.
“We will continue to ensure that they are at the heart of all decisions affecting their homes and communities, and look forward to working alongside other local organisations to meet our aims.”
The major improvement programme will see new kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems and double glazing installed to ensure all former council homes in the district are fully brought up to modern standards. |
