 General Information / Background
Dale and Valley Homes is an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) which has been established by Wear Valley District Council.

In 2000 the Government introduced the "Decent Homes Standard" and placed a duty on all councils responsible for housing to meet this standard by 2010. The Government advised that all councils should undertake a stock options appraisal process to consider how they could manage and improve their housing stock to meet the Decent Homes Standard in partnership with customers and key local stakeholders.

Wear Valley District Council began the stock options appraisal consultation process in 2002 and by 2004 the Council had decided that the best way for our customers homes to be improved would be to establish an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO). The Council applied for a place on round 5 of the Government's ALMO programme in January 2005. In April 2006 Dale and Valley Homes was established to manage and improve the council's houses in Wear Valley.
