Craven Housing Association was originally formed in March 2003 to take over all the Housing Stock of Craven District Council through the voluntary stock transfer process.
The Association manages over 1500 properties in the following towns and villages within North Yorkshire:
* Skipton Cross Hills and South Craven
* Gargrave
* Hellifield
* Settle
* Grassington
* Ingleton
* Bentham
The majority of our homes are in small market towns and villages, many in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. We operate from our offices in Skipton with a local office on our largest estate on Greatwood and Horseclose in Skipton.
We seek to offer a home to meet the needs of single persons, couples, families, older persons or those with special needs wanting supported housing. Being a low waged economy with high house prices there is a high demand for affordable rented housing in Craven and we always have a substantial number of applicants waiting assistance.
In addition to providing homes we also act as agents for Craven District Council and offer general housing advice and run the homelessness service.
We give a strong commitment to our tenants and are able to offer opportunities for them to become involved in the management of their homes through a variety of means such as an Estate Management Committee, The District Tenants Panel, and Sheltered Tenants Panel, membership of local Tenant Groups, Board Membership, Tenants Focus Groups, Tenants Forums and Tenants Conferences. We fund and provide support to active Tenant Groups and encourage participation in all areas of activity of the Association.
The Board of Craven Housing consists of 6 tenants, 4 local councillors and 5 independent members. The Board makes decisions in respect of the management and maintenance of our properties and ensures high levels of standards in the services that we provide.
All tenants of the Association and others with an interest in housing in Craven can become a shareholding member with rights to attend the Annual General Meeting and receive financial and progress reports. |
