YMCA offers low need support for young people and is one step away from independent living. There is 24 hour support at the project from experienced support workers who are able to offer a wide range of advice and information. All residents are expected to engage with the support workers and be in or actively seeking to be in education, training or employment. Support is given to young people in planning for a “move on” into independent living.There is a training room on site offering internet and pc access to young people in the evenings and at weekends.
Young people are invited to take part in residents meetings, activities nights and are encouraged to take part in youth forums of the wider YMCA England so the young people “have a voice” in the direction of the organisation.
The project opened on the Daimler Green estate in Radford in May 2006, and provides supported accommodation of a 1 bed roomed for 24 young people in 2 blocks.
