 General Information / Background
Colne Housing Society is a charitable housing association. We were established in 1973, and now own or manage over 2000 affordable homes throughout North Essex.

We aim to provide excellent homes and services to our residents, and to make a positive difference to the neighbourhoods in which we work. We provide homes for families, couples and single people. In addition, we have six sheltered housing and one very sheltered housing schemes and 80 bedspaces for vulnerable clients.

In 1998 Colne Housing joined the Eastern Link Housing Alliance - a group of four independent housing associations - Colne, Cotman, Orwell and Suffolk Societies - who are based in Colchester, Norwich, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds respectively. We work together in areas such as staff and board member training, the introduction of new technology and joint purchasing. Eastern Link Members co-operate to provide Best Value in all our services.

In 2007 we won the Staff Training and Development category at the Colchester District Business awards 2007. We are also finalists for the same category in the Essex Business Awards 2008.
