Chorley Community Housing was set up in March 2007 with the transfer of all Chorley Borough Council’s 2,916 homes to the new landlord.
Chorley Community Housing (CCH) is a registered social landlord, registered with and regulated by the Housing Corporation, a government agency. It is registered as an Industrial and Provident Society with charitable status. The transfer went ahead after tenants voted decisively in favour of the historic changeover in a secret ballot held in July/August 2006.
Promises made to tenants included £26 million of improvements to homes and services in the first years. And CCH is committed to improving homes and services well beyond the first five years. In addition CCH will provide a budget of £250,000 each year for the next five years for disabled adaptations and it will pay for its own occupational therapist to reduce the waiting time for an assessment.
Tenants were promised a bigger say in how their homes and services were run with transfer. The Management Board of CCH is made up of four tenants, four nominees from Chorley Borough Council and four independent members from the community, chosen for their skills and experience.
CCH is also committed to building on the strong foundation of tenant involvement in how services are provided and developed. |
