Chevin is a charitable association and an Industrial and Provident Society. It was formed in 1998 as the Parent Association for Harewood Housing Society. In 2001 Chantry Housing Association joined the Group and in 2003, transferred its engagements to Chevin, whilst at the same time Harewood Housing Society transferred its rented homes to Chevin. The objective of the transfers was to improve the efficiency of the Group's operations. In 2004 Hallam Housing Society transferred its engagements to Chevin Housing Association. Hallam was a non-profit making I&GP Society also operating under non-charitable rules, founded in 1966 as a 'cost rent' society. Chevin now owns and manages over 6,400 homes covering a wide range of needs including single people, families, older people and people with support needs. The homes are located across 20 local authorities.
The association is partners with a wide range of local authorities both rural and urban, providing development and regeneration expertise.
Chevin also employs the Group's corporate services staff who provide, finance, IT, human resources and development services. |
