|
Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust (the Trust) started its life as a charitable Registered Social Landlord on 17 July 2006, with the transfer into its ownership of 5,000 homes from Macclesfield Borough Council. But we have been around for a significant amount of time in "Shadow" form.
We are very clear that our purpose is a great deal broader than simply delivering an excellent landlord service - though it goes without saying that this is our first priority. Our £43m, five year improvement programme will be the biggest single investment into the borough's social housing in a generation, and we will revitalise literally thousands of homes.
But if we are to make the most of our unique position in the borough, we need to share a vision of working creatively with others to improve many other aspects of life as well. We must use our influence and close knowledge of communities, and our position as a major investor in the social fabric, to change more than the visible. We want to play a part in the effort to increase educational aspiration and attainment, to improve health and well-being, to reduce anti-social behaviour by eliminating its causes, and to support the growth of community-based activities and groups.
