In 1985 Bordesley Green Housing Co-operative was formed, originally the flats in NorthWarwick Street were built to provide accommodation for student nurses from the local Heartlands Hospital.
The NorthWarwick Street site consists of 20 flats with a communal laundry and a meeting room. In 1990 the Co-op went on to build 14 family homes, in Carlton Road,Wyncliffe Road, Talfourd Street and Prince Albert Street.
In 1999 the Co-op bought two houses in the Bordesley Green area these were purchased under the ESD (existing satisfactory dwelling)development programme, which was a popular way of developing stock at the time. Finally, in 1999 Regency Close was built comprising 2 four, 4 two and 2 five bedroom properties.
Bordesley Green Housing Co-operative is registered under the Industrial Provident Societies Act 1965 and is defined as a “Fully Mutual Housing Co-operative” under the rules registered with the Registrar of Friendly Societies. |
