Bath Self Help Housing Association was founded in 1983. Our roots are firmly grounded in the provision of decent homes for people who are perhaps less able to compete in the market and who often need a range of other support to help them to help themselves and live independently.
Our vision is to work in partnership, providing housing and associated services to combat social disadvantage and develop sustainable communities.
We are a Registered Social Landlord, regulated by the Housing Corporation. We are also an Industrial and Provident Society regulated by the Financial Services Authority. We have charitable objectives and we are a member of the National Housing Federation.
At the begininng of April 2002, Bath Self Help became a member and co-founder of the new Somer Housing Group, having developed a close working relationship with Somer Community Housing Trust, the other co-founders of the Group.
Somer Housing Group Ltd is the parent company from whom we receive all central and support services. This includes the leadership and management from the Group Executive Team, new business, development, finance, information technology, personnel and training, policy and review services.
We have around 140 homes in management, some of which we own, manage and maintain ourselves and some of which are leased or under management agreements from other partner housing associations. These include Sanctuary Housing Association and Bristol Churches Housing Association. We are working with both organisations on a possible transfer of these properties to help us develop our asset base and build our financial strength.
We are grateful for the continued partnership with Bath & North East Somerset Council, particularly in relation to the homes and services we provide to young and other vulnerable homeless people. |
