Welwyn Garden City Housing Association has been providing sheltered housing since the 1960s. Being a local Association with charitable status, we are able to provide a level of service to our residents, as well as to those applying to live in our properties, that is second to none.
These high standards are maintained by the strong influence of our Board Members. They give their time voluntarily to develop the policies and procedures which the Association works by. The Association's Board Members have expertise in business, legal and housing matters. Two Board Members are our own residents. Resident involvement in all we do is paramount to the Association's success. Our Committee structure includes a sub-committee, the Housing Services Committee, which is made up almost exclusively of residents. Residents also serve on the Association's Board and Policy and Resources Committee.
After initially concentrating on sheltered housing provision, the Association took the decision in the early 80s to develop a Residential Care Home. In the 90s working in partnership with Welwyn Hatfield Council, the Association developed its first general needs housing in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield. This was followed by the provision of a number of bungalows for older people to assist Welwyn Hatfield Council to free up family accommodation in the area. Most recently the Association has developed an Extra Care Scheme in Welwyn for older people with early and onset dementia, and a shared ownership scheme for first time buyers.
The Association is committed to ensuring the satisfaction and long term comfort of all of our residents. We are further committed to making the process of applying for a home as simple and transparent as possible. |
