The Abbeyfield Winchester Society is an exempt charity registered in 1982 as an Industrial and Provident Society (IPS). We provide ‘home from home’ type accommodation for elderly people on a non profit basis. Abbeyfield Winchester is a member of the Abbeyfield UK and is also registered with the Tenant Services Authority.
The welfare and needs of the buildings and residents are looked after by three groups of people:
* Shareholders and Board of Trustees: This group of volunteers have overall responsibility for the management of the Society and its assets and for the welfare of the residents.
* House Staff: A team of employed staff look after the day to day running of the houses and the needs of the Residents. This team includes an Administrator, a live-in Manager, and a live-in Assistant Manager.
* House Committee: This second group of volunteers work to provide additional creature comforts, entertainment and outings for the residents.
