The Abbeyfield Sidmouth Society was founded in 1963 as one of the first Abbeyfields in the South West. The Society is a member of the National Abbeyfield Society and operates in accordance with the Guiding Principles of the Movement, adopted by over 900 other Abbeyfield Houses in the UK. Our aim is to provide a caring home for elderly people, particularly the lonely or frail, where they can have maximum independence with the support and companionship of others and from a resident Housekeeper.
Abbeyfield in Sidmouth has three Very Sheltered Houses and has developed over the years by extending and improving the accommodation available, which has only been possible with the help of generous donations and legacies received.
Abbeyfield Court is in Station Road, located near to the parish church, Esplanade, (sea front), bus terminal, and overlooking the cricket/croquet pitches with views of the sea to the South Devon coastline. The House has 23 residents' rooms, all with en-suite facilities and served by a lift; 12 are bedsitters and 12 have separate bedrooms and sitting rooms. Sharing couples can be accommodated. |
