The Abbeyfield Porlock Society was formed in October 1980 to provide a safe, comfortable and companionable home for older people from the village of Porlock and surrounding areas. 'The Laurels' (pictured above) officially opened in July 1984, and has provided an excellent home for many people since then.
The facilities of the house have been constantly upgraded, and the house now has en-suite facilities for all residents. The Laurels is a two-storey house, so there is a lift capable of carrying five people between the floors. |
