 Authority Details
Norwich is a vibrant City with special qualities deriving from its long history and the spirit and creativity of its people.

The City Council is committed to improving the quality of life of its residents by caring for the living and working environment.

Norwich is the UK's most significant financial centre outside of the City of London. The city has a long history as a banking, insurance and finance centre and is the headquarters of Norwich Union, the largest insurance company in the UK. Norwich City Council is involved in a wide range of activities to support the Norwich economy. Overall the economy is thriving.

The City Council, together with other organisations, is working hard to promote and develop Norwich as a regional centre for culture and as a tourist destination, which will bring jobs and investment into the City and benefit local people.

Norwich has had a Local Strategic Partnership in place for a number of years. The new City of Norwich Partnership will play a leading role in the City's economic, environmental, social and cultural development. The Partnership brings together people from all walks of life, throughout the City, to agree what are the most important issues to address and then sets this out in a Sustainable Community Strategy.
