We have been collecting housing data and making it available on the web since 1997. Our core business is social housing but over the last few years we have expanded into private housing, construction, tenders and planning.
Our client list is varied and includes Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Contractors, Lawyers, Suppliers, Government Departments, Telecoms & IT, Blue chips, Banks, Utilities and Charities.
We sell a standard annual licence (1 - 10 users) to access all our housing organisation contact, business intelligence and benchmarking information, housing stock map analysis and UK housing data. We also sell premium licences for Tender & Contract data, advanced business intelligence and UK Planning Application data and analysis.
HousingNet has amassed a huge amount of data and we are constantly working on the site to make accessing this information as straightforward as possible. We also offer, to all our clients, a very personal service whereby we take on any research related task, data scrubs and analysis directly related to our data. This service is free of charge, with our thanks, for your custom.

Description: Land Registry (LRD), NROSH, Statistical Data Return (SDR) and PAF data are used to plot homes on the map. There are three map choices: Google street map, Carto (the geospatial platform we use to manage our data), and Google Satellite view.
Map Legend: Hover over the markers for LRD data details. Click to view the Street View. All Points
How to: Click on the map to zoom into a Ward and display Land Registry titles in purple. Hover over markers to view title information and click for Street View. The 'Homes' panel lists Housing Organisations with housing stock in the Ward selected. Data from the Statistical Data Return (SDR) – 'Homes Owned & Managed' and Land Registry data (LRD) are displayed along with the % of total stock (LRD) owned by each organisation in the selected Ward.
The selected area can be changed to look at stock in a 1 mile and 5 mile radius.
Other icons in the 'Homes' panel:
Description: Displaying Land Registry Title data (LRD) for each Housing Organisation by Ward. LRD only covers England and Wales. No data at this level is available for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Any organisation that does not have a purple 'Homes' circle next to their name has no LRD available. The most likely reason for this is the organisation is registered as a Charity and not a Housing Association.
Map Legend: Click on Ward properties to highlight markers on the map
How to: The mapped stock data is taken from the 13.2M records on the Land Registry Corporate Data Set (ASPIRE) which is updated yearly. The data is useful to understand which Housing Organisations are working in each area and how much stock they have. Insight into opportunities for stock swaps and collaboration can be obtained from the map.
Description: Land Registry Title data (LRD) plotted on a map.
Map Legend: Hover over the markers for LRD data details. Click the marker to load the Street View window.
How to: When an individual organisation (with LRD) is selected the markers will change colour depending on the type of title they represent.
The data in the right hand 'Homes' panel will show a comparison between Land Registry data and the Statistical Data Return in each Local Authority the organisation works in. Please note that the SDR contains 'Homes' only but LRD has all registered titles.
The Legend will appear at the bottom of the screen which will load all the information we have on the selected organisation.
Any housing organisation client can request their own raw LRD addresses which we can supply with geo-coordinates and valuation estimates.
Description: UK Housing Associations and Local Authority postal locations with housing stock figures for any given location.
How to: Search for an area in the top panel to display all Housing Organisation and Local Authority office locations in the area. Click on the marker to load the Land Registry Housing Stock for the selected organisation.
Search for a Housing Organisation in the 'Homes' tab on the right hand side of the map (displayed in the image above).
The green tabs at the top of the map on the right side are for showing and hiding housing organisation office locations (top) and to show/hide the Ward spotlight.
Description: Floodplain and Green Belt data overlay over housing stock
How to: The Floodplain (FP) blue tab on the right side will overlay flood alert areas on the map. Any purple housing markers in the floodplain will change to red to highlight properties in areas with a potential for flooding.
The Green Belt can be overlaid by selecting the GB tab.
Description: Brownfield data is the most recent available as a complete file from 2011. We are currently extracting the Local Plan Strategic Development sites and will upload them when complete.
How to: Open the map and use the 'Land' tab on the right hand side to select the Brownfield options.
View Local Plan progress
Description: We compile the data we collect into tables for analysis and spreadsheets to download. Mailing lists are the most widely used. Tables include Turnover, Chief Executive Pay, Satisfaction in Homes, Service and Repairs, Housing Stock, Housing Stock by Area, Solicitors, Auditors & News. These tables can be accessed from the housing organisation data pages or from the Data Bank. We also include a page of internal and external links to other UK Housing related data sets.
How to: The Data Bank is split into six sections - Senior Management Contact Sheets, Social Housing, Finance, Business Intelligence, Planning and Other Reports & Open Data.
Senior Management - Export contact sheets of Senior Management staff based on the roles they are responsible for and include Housing Stock, Financial Overview and Satisfaction statistics for the organisation they work for. All sheets include address, contact and Social Media information by default. View complete list of Job Titles.
Social Housing - We include all UK Housing Organisation and Social Housing stock information in this section.
Finance - Each year we aim to extract and database the financial data from the Largest 400 Housing Associations and the data is built into lists and can be accessed and exported from this page. The Export Panel (View the next slide) can be used to drill down deeper into these returns.
Business Intelligence & Planning - These two pages form part of our Premium licence which has a section of its own in the Help file.
Description: We include all UK housing organisation and Social Housing stock information in this section.
How to: Build spreadsheets of housing information to view online and download and include other data sets such as financial information.
The Business Intelligence and Planning sections are included in our Premium packages but any visitor to HousingNet can view and download sample data from all sections.
Description: We provide internal and external links of other UK Housing related data sets or reports to view and download and update them regularly. If there is any other housing related data you would like us to track please let us know.
Description: We built the Export Panel last year and it soon became swamped with data as we're collecting so much of it. The Data Bank is the easiest system for viewing and exporting data but the Panel is still the best tool for looking at 'Housing Stock by Local Authority Area' - or as we call it 'Who owns what stock and where?' and interrogating the Financial Returns.
How to: Taking 'Who owns what stock and where?' as our example -
When you first open the page select 'Housing Data' from the splash screen - you can't miss it.
In the top right of the panel check the box 'with Housing Stock in …'
From the Location page select your areas of interest.
From the Organisation page select 'Parent' and 'Subsidiary'. 'Group Structure' will tell you the Parent organisation and can be useful in analysis.
Select all the 'Types' by checking the box at the top of the column.
Select Address Details and Contact data if you want them included.
From the 'Housing' page check the 'Housing Stock' box so all options are selected.
In the right hand panel you can see how big your file will be so you can add and remove data as necessary and the Export button will download the file in spreadsheet format.
Description: The mapped stock data is taken from the 13.6M records on the Land Registry Corporate Data Set (ASPIRE) which is updated yearly. The Land Registry Title Search is searching all 13.6M records. Bespoke exports are available on request, free of charge, for registered users.
How to: Due to recent changes in the licensing agreement we have with Land Registry we are now able to make the whole corporate National Data Set available to search online for registered users. This includes 13.6M titles owned by: County Councils, Housing Associations / Societies, Industrial and Provident Societies, Limited Companies or Public Limited Companies, Limited Liability Partnerships, Local Authorities, Unlimited Companies, Co-Operative Societies, Community Benefit Societies and Registered Societies.
It does not include private address details, internationally owned titles, and registered charities.
All Postcodes in the database are linked to Street View.
Any Housing Association or Local Authority can request a spreadsheet of their own records from the Land Registry data and we include geo-coordinates and property valuations to the sheet.
Any registered client can request data scrubs and raw data for data cleansing but there are restrictions as to its use.
Description: Since 2011 we have been cataloguing every report we collect as part of our news gathering operation for our daily news email and now have them in a searchable database.
How to: Open the Search in the top toolbar to search reports by keyword or Housing Organisation. Alternatively select a subject category from the left hand 'Categories' column.
View results with images or in a listview by changing the 'Show / Hide' toggle at top right.
Description: We source news from over 50 different websites every day for all the UK Housing news which is then compiled into our Housing News email and delivered every weekday morning to over 18,000 people mainly involved in Social Housing.
View the latest edition of 'Housing News' here
How to: Subscribe to the news from the bottom of every page on www.housingnet.co.uk
Description: On registering with us any client can send in their CRM which we will cleanse and update in any way you need. A lot of clients take us up on this offer which is included in the price of your licence.
We also do bespoke data scrubs normally against address data from the Land Registry Data set at very reasonable rates.
