Hillingdon is an outer-London borough with a character all of its own. Running from Harefield Hospital in the north to Heathrow Airport in the south, it is home to around 248,000 people. Its forty-two square miles make it London's second largest borough. Within its borders lie historic woodland, waterways and fields; classic tree-lined suburban streets, shopping centres and urban communities.
Hillingdon contributes greatly to the economic success of the Capital, yet it remains one of London's greenest boroughs. As home to Heathrow Airport, it is also London's foremost gateway to the world. Hillingdon is changing fast and we are gaining a higher profile and stronger reputation with both local and central government and also with a wider audience.
The council's vision, driven by the Leader of the council and his cabinet, clearly sets out our ambitions for the residents of Hillingdon: to be "a modern, well-managed council, delivering excellent services". |
